The New Joe Dillard Novel.

A young girl vanishes without a trace in the dead of night.

Was her menacing absentee father involved? Or did something even more sinister occur?

In the tenth installment of the best-selling Joe Dillard series, Joe finds himself turning 50 and on the brink of despair. His involvement in his law practice has tapered to the point of near retirement. He spends his days with his wife, Caroline, who is finally succumbing to the ravages of cancer after a decade-long battle. His son, Jack, is struggling with alcohol abuse and self-loathing after accidentally killing a young mother while protecting the woman he hopes to marry. Joe is nearing the end of his rope.

When the girl goes missing, Joe learns she is a member of Jack's little league team. Her disappearance derails his already teetering son and starts a ticking clock. If she's not found within 48 hours, the chances of recovering her alive dwindle to nearly zero. Joe knows this, so Caroline charges him with finding her.

As the investigation ramps up, law enforcement quickly zeroes in on a likely perpetrator. The identity of the prime suspect hits closer to home than Joe could have possibly imagined, adding frantic urgency to his quest to find the girl.

"Pratt's richly developed characters are vivid and believable, especially the strong Southern women who fight their male-dominated culture from behind a façade of vulnerability." - Publisher's Weekly

Each Joe Dillard novel can be read as a standalone. There is no need to have read previous books in the series to enjoy this story.

A Great Book!

I have read every Joe Dillard books and have loved every one. Was always sorry when I had come to the end. The novel LAST RESORT was great, and I savored every word with a sense of admiration to his family especially his son, J.D. Pratt. My deepest sympathy to his family for the great loss of your Mom and Dad. Great job J.D. Pratt.

Continues the great work of Scott Pratt !

I am a loyal fan of the Scott Pratt, Joe Dillard series .I was saddened to hear about his tragic death.I believe his son and brother ( and another gentlemen ) completed this book using their late father's/brother's notes or writings. If it was Scott's last writing ( and the final one ) then it was one of his best.If it was just from notes then it is a combination of a great concept and the talents of the authors who put this concept to writingI wanted the authors to know your dad's and brother's work has been like therapy for me as I get lost in the plots and the wonderful characters of his book seriesI hope you keep writing as JD Pratt and continue with the Jack Dillard series then you will be honoring his legacy and bringing joy to a new genre of Pratt readers

Last resort

Pretty much a story of a psycho realizing he is the main problem in his life and is revealed by an interesting story with most of the good guys making good decisions at the right time. Sad state of affairs that works out in the end.
